If this is true, I'll be pissed. I had a V4 and sent it back for a V3.

I have this exact same board, and after looking at your review you show a V2 board with a V3 Magic 2 and give it a perfectly working review, and then in this thread you show the same board with a V4 Magic 2 and state that the V3 didn't work on this board, so were these seperate boards that behaved differently? The reason I ask is because I have this board and a V3 chip wired exactly like yours and in the review, and I get the following results:
PS1 Original - Unknown
PS1 CDR - Do not work, previously tested as working
PS2 Original DVD - Working
PS2 Original CD - Working
PS2 CDR - About 50% Working all tested good on other system
PS2 DVD-R - Not Working
PS2 DVD Movie - Working
PS2 DVD-R Movie - Working
Any tips for me possibly?
Load disk HARD POWER OFF 5 Seconds Tap the reset sometimes the the Magic 2 needs to be reset if you are ever having problems try this method. Laser problems are also a possibility. People think if you have a brand new PS2 you should NOT have laser problems WRONG the PS2 Brand NEW ones sometimes have trouble reading disks.
v3 chip wouldn't work if you have following bios in v1 system
0 110 020 16 M
if you have these bios then you need either magic2 v4 chip or you need messiah
This may be a stupid question. How do you tell what verison bios you have. I have a v1 release day ps2 and a v3 red pcb chip that was ordered from Lik-Sang about a week ago.
Your gonna have to open 'er up to find out
open your ps2 and look at the bios if it has these number under C 2000 SCEI or not
it would be like
-------------------
C 2000 SCEI
x it would be on this spot
x then something over here but i think this one don't matter
this applies only if your board mathes with LOD's board.

Same question how do you know it doesn't work for this bios version. Just looked at the bios version and it is also
D 110 020 16 M
Use these at your own risk!
