I have a few questions guys...
What is the model?
What is the serial?
What is the GH-xxx on the main board?
What is the date code?
Here is my hunch... The board that is shown by LOD is identical to mine (I have a launch day unit, model 30001, U1xxxxxx serial, and a GH-005 main board, even that same little stupid pink spacer). From what I can tell in the picture this is the same board I have.
Now is this the TRUE V2 unit? Is this the mysterious one that has been creating a lot of posts?I have been following the forums VERY closely to try and find the diagram(s) that matches my board. Now this is where it gets weird!
LOD you were the one that posted the FIRST picture I saw that even resembled my board. So what do you think is the difference between the boards? Is it that the board is universal enough that a version3 works one time then the next its a version4? Wow talk about confusing!
XiaNix any help on filling in the above questions would be helpful!
Maybe LOD has stumbled across an important find that we need to analyze and determine what is different.
Hang on to your panties boys and girls this just may call for a re-classification of the versions. Or do away with them and use something more bulletproof.
Just my two cents... Fire away gentlemen...

OK i have just found the Mixup the v1 Diagrams on the Magic Chip website are for the v2 PS2 This is my fault. I will submit the right v1 PIC to magic chip makers and they will most likely revise the diagrams.

so this was the reason my (v3)chip didn't work on version 1. since i used LOD diagram. my head below up when i rechecked and rechecked and try again and again and my ps2 would try to boot but wouldn't boot orgionl or backup.

I am not trying to drag this thread off into the weeds but, is there any standard on indentification of main boards?
I just found this link on Lik-Sang site. According to them they use the GHXXX numbers to determine version. Check it out.
http://image.lik-sang.com/content/ne...stallation.htm
According to that site I have a version 2.
Its no wonder that you need a PHD in reverse kinematics to understand this stuff! Either that or we need someone to stand up and get it straightened out. (Guichi thats your cue!)
I dont want to kill the boards but, I believe that if the diagrams were verified against every type of GHXXX board out there, and corrected) that alot of the repeat messages would go away.
Guys (Guichi, LOD, Charlie_PS2, and others) I have seen your posts across several boards. I know you guys have the most knowledge about what is going on around here with concerns to the modchips and not to mention the right connections.
We are looking up to you guys as are mentors to help us out of this situation.
Besides are you guys getting paid to do this?
(Just kidding!)

LOD, are you saying that the diagrams on the "china-magic.com" website are for V2 PS2s?, if you are this is good news for me, since I have a V2. Anyways I think china-magic.com should have digrams for both V1 and V2.
Another thing, does one install a Magic2 V1-V3 or Magic2 V4 in a V2 PS2?

So should people that have the Magic2 v3 and V1 ps2 wait for updated diagrams or is it possible to use one of the already existing diagrams (like the first diagram from Lod)? I thought some people have already confirmed that the Magic v3 works on the v1 ps2.

LOD my v3 magic 2 didn't work in v1. i had the same problem. So should i wait for any diagram or should i exchange v3 chip for v4 chip?

Ok guys, we need the bottom line here! They've finally straightened out the v4 and up ps2's so we need someone to verify/make a list of which magic chip goes with our earlier ps2 versions (1,2 and 3).
Remember, (according to Lik-Sang):
GH-004 = Ver. 1 PS2
GH-005 = Ver. 2 PS2
GH-006 = Ver. 3 PS2
Plz, we're all waiting anxiously! That way we can exchange our chips if we need to. Also, like Bullwinkle said, we need the rest of the info on that board, including the bios (010, 020, etc). My GH-005 has the 010 bios which is incompatible with Neo4.1.
BTW, LOD, you kick ass!
We're listening (I mean reading!).....
later....
