I emailed team omega with this question, but maybe one of can help me to.

i've got a question about one of your chips.

I mod ps2's and Xbox's on regular base with your chips, never had any probs with them. But last friday I had a v4 with gap PS2 for the first time, I installed the chip with the help of your diagram. But then, when I tried to play a backup something trange happend. When I put the game in it, it trying to load it, the Playstation 2 letters come on screen, the screen then blinks one time (I thought the game will start now) but then it freezes. You'll hear the laser reading the disc, and it still keeps spinning. But then it suddenly stops, and it returns to the browser-screen (where you also see the memorycard), the strangest thing is, is that the backup thats still in de dvd-player is recognized as a PS2 game. So I tried to start it up again, but it stays the same. These backups do work on my PS2, and also on one of a friend of mine, so my backups are ok. When I try a original PS2 game it works perfectly. I resolderd all points but the problem still occures. I tried dvd+ and dvd- but that didnt make any difference.

I searched a couple times with google, and I found a couple of guys with the same problem. But never found a solution.

So my question is, is this a known problem with you guys, and so how can I solve this?

    Best regards.
ps: i'm dutch so there could be a little wrong spelling in my mail :P
    tnx, Sinister

ps: the serach didn't work, maybe the answer is in another topic but i can't find it.

    You have a lens issue.
it's to weak to read the DVD disk or it need to be addjusted.

Yeh, I was reading trough some pages here, and found some topics with this problem. Found out that I should replace the laser with a 400c one. Or tweak the laser. My girlfriends nephew was here a couple a minutes ago to pick it up. I removed the chip, I said I would give it another try when I knew what the problem was.

Some one here got other suggestions that I can try maybe.

comsoft is correct, V4's and earlier have the 400B laser which considering the age of the PS2 is probably worn out or worn enough to not read your recordable disc well. It might recognize it as a PS2 game but then fails to actually boot the disc as it searches for data it cant see. Just so you know recordable media is much more difficult for any PS2 laser to read then pressed originals.

Thats just it, the PS2 is about 7 or 8 months old. Brand new from the store. Probebly the store had an older version PS2 on stock, and sold it to him. My nephew doesnt have that many games, so I guess that the lens didnt make that many hours. Is tweaking not enough to get it all working?

I would be suprized if any store had a "new" ps2 of that version still on the shelf ... but who knows

There are stores that sell refurbished PS2's you know, might have been one of those?

Before you do any laser tweaking be 100% confident that your install is solid and correct.

I don't doubt my install. It's not my first Could be that Sony refurbisht it and send it back to the store. But it's a well known store here in the Netherlands and in Belgium (Bart Smit/E-plaza for the people who live here to) normaly they do not resell them. But still......

Ok, but what should I do know? place the chip again (the Duo) or another one, Messiah or something else. And when I replace the duo what should I do then?

Nobody knows? when I place a other then the Duo, say a Massiah, H2O or even a DMS4, could it be solved then? Can it be that one of these send a stronger signal to the lens? Or is the laser just to weak and the only solution is to replace the lens?

For what it's worth I've installed quite a few Duo2se's and I no longer use them for versions 1-4, I've swapped out 4 or 5 and have replaced them with Crystals.
They then load and perform much better, most likely due to better patching.

    Cheers,
