V4 DUo 2SE
alright, so i've done shit loads of xboxes before but am still fairly noobish to this ps2 stuff.....(done like 5 v9 and v10 ps2s) am confident in my soldering abilities to do this v4 but need a few things cleared up please and thnx:
1.) there's quite a few pics for v4... in the "all modchip insatll diagrams" thread. i see on the actual mobo printed in gold on the board GH-006... so i'm guessing that's what i want..
but in the thread.... i see "gap" and "no gap" what exactly does this mean and where shoudl i be looking to find this gap?
2.) i went ahead and downloaded both v6 diagrams thinking i could see the difference by comparing the boards in the pictures to the board i have but it turns out the link for GH006 020 gap bios has the same pic as the GH007 020 gap bios
is this right? or a misslink?
v1/v2/v3 (020 bios)
GH006 020 no gap bios
GH006 020 gap bios
GH007 020 gap bios
thnx so much for your help
do the same rules apply?
thicker wire for ground and power?
i'm having a hard time finding a really good place to put the chip without having either a long power or ground wire..
i'll attach a pic where i'm thinking of putting it...but there'll be a long power wire.. (gonna use 20 gauge)
That's not a V4... it's a V3. And yes, your location is fine. Same rules are always prudent... little thicker on the POWER/GROUND. Not absolutely necessary with the DUO chip, but still good practice.
ah shit you're right.. my bad... wasnt' reading slow enough :D
k so yes the V3..position is good ... sweet.... but what about the difference between the gap and no gap ?
You can see the big different between gap and no gap. Download both pictures, and look at the solder points or compare with the board you have, you can see the different. It's clearly shown. Or just look at the modchip you got, then look where they locate on the mobo, at least 5 points will be at different location.
