i just tried to install a ripper IV now my ps2 has a black screen with a green light, no spinning but the laser does move up a couple of Cm's nd then down..

Ive made a real mess of my ps2, nd i need to now if i can if it, theres a lot of solder splashes near the via's nd bios legs nd some burnt board whats the best way i can fix this?

i also notice when i had the mod chip installed there was a small poof of smoke, does this mean my mobo is fried? or was the smoke from the chip?

i think you need to remove the chip and clean all the solder splashes off to see if your ps2 still works first.then you can make an assesment as to the condition of you board.
