V4 35001 datecode 1b and v4 magic2
V4 35001 datecode 1b and v4 magic2 –
I installed and have good continuity on all points. I get black screen and on power up the disk spins 5 times about an 1/8 inch each time then the laser head clicks up and down 6 times and the whole thing repeats itself. I used the diagram from modchip.ca and they asked me post this problem here.
Check yor DVD/IC points agian.
the points for dvd/ic would be?
A-I. R U soldered to all VIA's?
From the Magic 2 Troubleshooting post:
Screen remains black
Assuming that the electrons were whirling initially, then this is usually a mis-install on the BIOS, usually MNOP.
If the electrons never happened, then some wires likely snagged when you put the PS2 back together and possibly a fuse has blown (one of thos little square chips with a number on them).
If you have a memory card inserted, try removing it. Some people have had black screen issues when their memory card was inserted (see below).
well now im screwed. I took the chip out and it does the same thing as above. NO CHIP black screen no sound drive starts and stops the laser clicks I can't see any bridged points and yes a-i were soldered on the little circles but points are still there. I don't get this at all.
UPDATE: I switched the deck out for a brand new 35001 datecode 1b, I first installed a neo 2.2 to make sure drive would boot my backups and results where great!
I removed the neo 2.2 and solder the 5 wires to test psx mode and it worked great!
I finished install and and used 22guage wire for 5 volt and ground, install went well all points clean.
Fire up the deck and throw in ps2-cdr it went to the ps2 logo for a split second and began to load and booted.(hooray!)
I then threw in a dvd-r and it went to playstation2 logo and froze.
I hard powered off and tried roughly 25 cdr-s and 3 dvd-rs and the results suck.
90% of the time the game starts to load and just stops, no red screen no browser the drive just stops.
What do I do now? All the games I am using are verified working in this deck using a neo2.2 and a gameshark so its not the drive and its not the media.
I did some more testing and I just don't get it. I can boot a game and it works fine. Turn off the ps2. reboot the deck with same disk and it stops loading halfway through boot up. It is the weirdest thing I have ever seen with a chip. I can't understand why or how this is happening.
It might be something as simple as needing to clean the laser lens with a cleaning disk.
Have you tried standing the PS2 at right angles to it's present orientation? If it works better one way, it aids diagnosis by raising two or three possibilities.
Well to finalize this thread. I removed the magic 2 for good it is 100% junk, sometimes boot sometimes no boot, redscreen browser blah blah blah. Nothin but trouble don't buy a v4 gold for this model deck it simply does not work stable. Everyone I've talked to about this combo seemed to know of the issues with this setup except of course who I bought the chip from. I am so pissed that I'm usin an oldschool neo2.2 but at least it works right
