    I recently installed a smartchip (black) into a v3 no-gap system. I am having a strange problem with PS2 DVD-R backup games.

I've tested almost every possible type of disc with success (PS1 Orig, PS1 Backup, PS2 Orig DVD, PS2 Backup CDR, PS2 Backup DVDRip (CDR), DVD Movie Orig). All of those worked fine. When I put in a backup DVD-R PS2 game, it will swish to the Browser/System Config screen and lock up. I can't use the controller to go into the browser or config menu. I am forced to reset.

If I go into the browser first, then put in the backup, it says "reading disc" and doesn't stop. My controller locks up and I can't back out of the browser. I am forced to reset.

Anyone know why my PS2 DVDR backups will not work (I've tried 3 brands of media also including RITEKs). Every other type of disc works and I'm stumped as to what the problem is.

Maybe a faulty chip or not wired in correctly ive used samartchips before and they seem to work fine no problem. I would say it might be your laser but if the ps2 if freezing then the fault must lie elsewhere. It just a proceess of elimation.
