V3 with Neo4, cd tray causing problems

Hi All,

I have a PS2 V3 with Neo4. Was always working fine for everything until a while ago when it stopped wanting to boot DVDR. Would just make whirring type noises but would not spin and play. I experimented for a while with different methods and would occassionally boot but sometimes be very noisy. Anyway, I think i might have the problem half solved and need some advice. It seems that if I give the cd tray a little helping hand on the way back in (after swapping the DVDR in) it gets a good close and the game boots and runs quiet as a mouse, but if I just let it close on it's own I get problems as mentioned above. Does anyone know the best method for correcting this. Does this sound right? Anyone else had problems like this and fixed it? I have heard you can re-grease the cd tray runners, but how do I do this? hmmmm i dunno if its BA chip related of if its just your tray i dont think geasing it gonna help, as you said yourself the tray does go back in

maybe the rails on the laser a slugish and the laser can not find the groove in the cdvd disc
