V3 gh-007 Disk won't spin at all

Hello,

In front of me I have a v3 gh-007 wich has the following problem:

The disk does not spin up. Not even a little bit.

As read in other posts (i DO search before I ask) many problems are with disks assumed not spinning but are spinning just a little bit. This one is totally dead. Exept for the laser. If inserted a cd, the laser hasn't got any activity. If inserted a DVD (original) the laser starts to try to read. After a while the laser diode goes on (visible) but no activity from the spindle hub.

I checked all the fuses, none blown.

I replaced the dvd assebly (wich includes the BA chips). I have got two 100% tested assembly's, but they both have teh same symptom.

There isn't anything shorted. So i haven't got a clue.

The ps2 had a NEO 2 installed wich was removed for chipping with a magic. But it never came to that.

Anyone have a clue. I'm stuck like glue. (nice rhyme)

When you replaced the DVD assembly, did they have new or different lasers in them?

The lasers of the spare assembly's are known to be weak, but they do spin up when connected to an other gh-007 mb. The assembly's connected to this mb are not spinnning up, not even a 1/2 a turn or else.

i got the same prob

When i switch on the PS2 the drive makes a little skid noise and then nothing..Disk doesent move at all..The only movemement is a small jerk of the lazer that moves a bout an inch...but i can see that it dosent turn at all..the boot will not proceed past this 1 skid regardless of what type of disk is tried...Mod chip is working normally(it seems)even let me reflash 2.2 to my DMS3...

I replaced the drive completely(Everthing but the ribbon cable that joins to the lazer) and still the problem is the same...

The ribbon cable that goes from the lazer to the connecter on the motherboard..when i was lifting the connector door to release the cable...the whole connector lifted off the MB..I managed to carefully push it back into place...it seems to be ok..could this have caused this..does it need to be soldered back
