V14 no video/audio
V14 no video/audio –
06-27-2006,07:29 PM
i have just modded a ps2 v14 with modbo 760, everything worked tested it a couple of times before attaching the case, but when i put every thing back i couldn't recive any video/audio. i opened up the case to find the metal shielding had cut the electrical tape on mod chip. what should i do ?
i know someone will say check the fuses, what fuse's and what values should they be ? anybody be able to help me out with a guide please or point me in the right direction. also what else might it be
do you think i should check and see if i can get video/audio when chip is removed?

You need a multimeter. Set it to 200 ohms. Then probe all the fuses. If you get 0.0 value then the fuse is blown, if anything else then it's good. You need to find the diagram.

I had a similar problem with my v14 and it turned out to be the PS14 fuse.

I think you mean if you get 0.0 the fuse it good (ie its shorted) Anything else then its blown.

thnx for all the info, found the problem just after i posted. when i screwed everything down i managed to pull the 3v off the board but managed to get working but i decided to leave the chip off for another day (my sanity is too important)

You don't get a reading if the fuse is blown. That 0.0 you see on your multimeter is an actual reading, you're just not setting the ohms low enough so you see the value.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing
A good fuse will read 0 ohms if its good ( + a few ohms for miscellaneous resistance in the leads and what not) .... a blown fuse will read infinite ohms if its blown (which maybe is how Tonys meter reads it) .... a better way would be to use a DVM with a continuity tester.

Yip - on my meter a good fuse reads 0.0 or 0.1 - anything other would be a blown fuse. The best thing to do is short the leads together. That way you get the lead/internal resistance. When you test the fuse you should get the shorted lead value.
With a continuity tested - beep=good fuse. No beep = blown fuse
