I've been looking to replace my V4 for a while now and I finally managed to trackdown a V13 and a HDCombo. Now I know the popular choices for modchips are:
    - DMS 4
    - Matrix Infinity
    - Crystal Chip

Basically what I want to do is have the best modchip/bios combo that will allow me to:

    a. Load HDD games (without HDLoader or the like if possible)
    b. Load Homebrew from the HDD and Memcards
    c. Work with cheating devices (namely CodeBreaker)

I've looked at the various websites and spec sheets ad nauseum and I can't really decide, all of them look about the same. Thus I want to know what you guys think.

i could go for modbo760 (bios direct soldering-Matrix infinity 1.82 clone) or modbo 745 (normal version of modbo 760) if you are going to install by yourself; inexpensive & supports all the functions you need

if you are willing to spend, dms4 PRO might be a better choice, but it is difficult to install

any other chips you listed would do the job

I'd rather stay away from clones this time. Also I'd like to have the option of firmware updates.

And it will be installed by a pro, no way I'm messing with these tiny soldering points.

though ghost2's promised backup network game play hasn't been completed (not sure if it will ever come out), but it is a good cheap as it is; however dev2 is not supported directly as the config manager is from the memory card

it seems like you would be happy to have a matrix infinity

i installed modbo760 on my friend's unit, and it worked very well.

Sounds like you need an Infinity.
