    Hello modders!

I have this v12, now WITHOUT any mod. It had a subzero modchip before.

This one behave like this: it works perfect for 15-20 mins until it warms up. Then i get a scrambled image and it stops working. If i let it cool down, then it works again, for another 10-15 mins.

I cleaned all the solder pads and points, and the console looks in mint condition. (i think).
Just one thing is "dirty".(Continuity test is ok)
It's the point where some modchips take power.
May this be the cause? What is this component?

Do u think that the bios pads may be ****ed? I tested continuity and it seems ok. I had a console before with the same sympton that was fixed when i tinned all those contacts again. Has anyone had the same problems??

Please check the picture and tell me, what do u think?

    Thanks in advance,
any clue will be greatly appreciated.

    Javi

PS: The fan is working properly.

    Whats up with that capacitor?

Sounds like the ps2 is simply overheating.

I would make sure the heatsink is getting good contact with the processors.

what happened to the cap - why is it not soldered to the pads?

dirty pads wont cause over heating problems. i take it youve checked the fan is working. like slinkydink says check the heatsink.

are you by chance powering it in a nonstandard way like useing a differint adapter or maybe a battery?

I didnt change anything. It's the original component. I just made the wiring to be sure it's making good contact. (That point was 'dirty' as i had a power wire for a modchip soldered there; then things got worse, and blah blah.. so i wanted to be on the safe side).

Is it a capacitor? Could it be that the capacitor is ruined by the solder heat, and that causes the problem?

    In fact, u were right.
I tinned and laid a small amount of solder on all the bios contacts again, and the pstwo is working perfect now.
This happened to me before. It seems those contact/pads are quite sensitive. They looked perfectly clean, but they still needed to be fixed.

Thanks you all for your answers. I hope this helps other guys with a problem like the one i had.
