I researched into mod chips a year or so ago when I first got my slimline, but I chickened out after all of the initial laser problems. Now, I'm determined to do it (I'm fairly decent with a soldering iron, so no worries there) but I'm completely clueless as to which chip to get. I had my eye on the DMS4 Lite SE, but I have now read that their chip batches aren't always good. Then I looked into the Matrix Infinity, which also seems like a good chip, but I'm not sure if it is as feature packed as the DMS chips. Finally, I have been reading on the Crystal chips, but I still haven't read everything on them yet. I really hate to post a question like this here, as I'm sure you get a ton of them, but I've been browsing through all of the recent threads and I still can't decide. Mainly, I want to be able to direct boot DVD+R (or -R, does it matter?) backups of PS1 and PS2 games as well as originals. I don't care too much about going online, as I only play a few games online, but if i were able to, it would be nice. The HDD thing interests me potentially in the future, but I don't feel like spending the money right now since I'm also going to be chipping my cube at the same time. Do any of these chips have features such as built-in gameshark/ar codes? Finally, if I were to go with the DMS chip, is it really worth the extra $12 to get the Pro version? Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I was reading about this whole toxic os/bios. What's the difference between the OS and the BIOS version? Which is better? Thanks so much in advance!

EDIT 2: Sorry! I keep forgetting to ask stuff! I want to make sure my laser doesn't crap out on me. From what I've read, the comsoft fix seems to be the best, so that's what I'm getting. Good idea or no? I don't really want to do the summ0ne fix, since I've heard it doesn't always last

I just got my green dot matrix working on my v12. Wiring was doable, but takes skill. My MI would not work right out of the box, I had to reflash to get it to work. So, if you go with MI and have problems initially, reflash first off.

I installed the Summone fix (resistors on tracking and focus coils) and things are still going strong with minimal use so far. I am thinking of installing the Matrix Pic fix in the future.

I have a matrix infinity v12 with summones fix which is working perfectly. i wish i went to crystal chip because of dnas bypassing ( meaning you can go online with backups ), but that was way before. the dms chip sux i recommend not getting it but its your choice. the OS is for the dms lite and the BIOs is for the PRo i think or maybe the other way around dont really remember. but if i were you i would 100% go with Matrix infinity with summones fix and no it doesnt ware out or " not last". btw i suggest using dvd type -R because i heard that the +R gives more stress to the laser. :P but then again its your choice.
