Laser is dying by the sounds of things.

But try swapping the ninja mod with another Ninja mod if you have one...

    And check all your wiring.

EDIT: i dont' think the drive is dead because before the mod and fix it was working fine with DVD games.

I have seen this a few times. Reads CD's perfect, but doesn't read DVD's
Swap with new laser, and all is back to normal.

    So I think it's a dead laser.

Hold on, it could be the media he's feeding the laser. What type of dvd-r are you using? How fast are you burning your backups?

i am using ritek g04, prodisc03 dvd-r and compusa dvd+r and fujifilm dvd+r and none of those work. and thats not even the problem now, i left the ps2 open when i left for work yesterday morning and last night i got back and go to play with that and hopefully fix it, all of a sudden my daughter ripped off the resistors where the 4.7kohm ones go. i'm not too pissed, anyway today my magic s+ is coming and i'm just gonna go down to EB and exchange this ****er out. thanx anyway guys!

You shouldn't leave the pstwo open like that, it might damage the pstwo cause the heatsink won't be tighten. Careful next time. Good luck.

lol ya she's loves to play with my stuff, she's only 3 yrs old. its ok though, i'll just get it swapped out at ebgames (got ext. warranty). only if these pstwo's weren't the biggest piece of trash ever! this is the first ps2 mod in a while, in the past i've modded over 100 neo4 , this is cake compared to that. is the magic s+ a good chip for the v12? thanx
