v12 no spin trouble
v12 no spin trouble –
03-29-2005,03:36 PM
Guys : I am in need of some help, i installed a crystal chip in a v12 ps2,
had everything working then i tried to install someone's resister fix . trouble now is disc will not spin,
I have since removed the someone's fix ----still no spin
I then checked all fuses --------all good
1ST : I do think the trouble is located around the area of the resisters that you solder to for the someone s fix, can anyone give a measurement giude or resister values or alternative measuring points for this area,(to find out if i have a lifted foil or bad resister).
2ND:Also is it possible that i burnt something out on the laser drive in doing this fix ?
3rd : If all else fails is there any one (installer) in Canada that would like to
take a stab at this unit to ( i am in SASK, Canada).?

Check your solder point maybe you have splash or bridge.
if resistor 303---->30K
if resistor 683---->68K
Check specially ps14 and ps11 and before this check ribbon cable maybe you damage it?

check your laser to see if it,s clouded over if it is you need a new one and ckeck the laser tracking and focus coils they should be between 5 /6 ohms to see which have gone.

ragweed, try removing the someone fix and see if the disk spins and read, i have had two different symptoms related to this, one is excactly what you describe and the other was that it would spin but wouldn't read any thing at all, including origionals...
If this doesn't work for you, give me an e-mail, i am in Edmonton, i could help you out if you need it...
Good luck!
