    Hi guy's
    got a UK v12 here
powers on OK (switch from red to green)browser fires up ok
    control seems fine
but disk will not spin and no laser activity
there is no chip fitted and i can seee no sign's off 1 ever being fitted?
could this still be laser coils fried?

Try replacing the laser. The worst thing that could happen is the laser controller chip burnt.

I do not know how you can test the laser controller chip but I know you need skills to replace it. It's pretty difficult because there are a lot of pins you must solder the board.

Espen, never heard of doing that before. How would that help? Wouldn't that decrease the laser's ability to read?
