k well im new to soldering and modchips. I have one of thos new slim ps2's and I want to mod it. I've been hearing alot of things that modding it will kill my laser. Still i'm willing to take the risk, but do i have to buy some special laser fix or anyhting? And whats the best chip for me to get right now?

i also still need to buy the required tools to soldier.Any cetrtin tools that you reccomend?

is soldiering really that easy? its just melting the wires from the modchip to another spot shown on the diagrams right? Can you guys give any tips so that i wont screw up?

    thanks

It is not easy. I'd suggest finding a local modder to have it done for you. If you have 0 experience modding you're likely going to screw it up.
Spend some cash and save the aggravation.
    Just my opinion of course

Agreed. Most people with Xbox soldering skills (basic) have trouble doing the PS2 since its points are so much smaller. It's worst if you have 0 soldering skills. Use the summ0ne fix for the pstwo. Most installers are installing those for free, I'm one of them.

Nope, it's an additional resistor install after installing the modchip. It prevents (in most cases) your laser from burning out when installed in a Version 12, aka Slim PSTwo.

so the summ0ne fix isn't 100% ? I thought it pretty much was, i've been talkin to ppl that install chips and they say that fix works 100% and one installer I talked to has done over 40 slim ps2s (installs and premods) all with that fix and he said he hasn't had one come back yet...

I've seen 2 posts about a fried laser protected with summOne fix, 1 from summOne himself.
Don't get me wrong, this is THE fix, and all that I install, and when you take into account how many installs have been done with this fix, and how many lasers have fried, it's less than a drop in the bucket. Not to mention the endless other possibilities that could have (and probably did) cause these lasers to fail.
