v12 with magic kx only read dvd movies original ps2 games

hi, my v12 ps2 was working just fine about 6 months before the problem ocurred, the console stop playing ps2 backups, i opened it up and notice the ground wire had come off , i resolder it hoping it would fix the problem with no luck.the ps2 only plays music cds dvd movies original or backups and original ps2 games, i tho the chip was dead but when i insert original or backup ps1 games i get the "insert ps1 or ps2 game" thing which has me believing the chip is working since is forcing the ps2 to play ps2 games , incase u didnt know the magic kx dont detect media automatically i have to tell it whether is a ps2 or ps1 games, the default is ps2.i would like to test the ps1 game by forcing it into ps1 mode, but i dont know how since the instruction on how to change mode is for regular size ps2, it invlves the reset button and the slim reset/power button is the same? how can i force the chip into ps1 mode on a slim ps2? also which wire would cause everything to work except ps2 backups?...thx for any information

For ps1, hold down the power button for 2 seconds.

I believe your chip is fried, try another chip.

I think you already did by saying it's not working. But you can only do a sure test by swapping chips. No other way to check.
