i have a v12, and i just changed my modbo with my bluedot MI.
and the disk did not spin, the laser moved to the center with millisecond of laser emmited, and then nothing happened, did not read.

    okay first of all,

    i soldered MI in,

i had problem with laser fix, it just wont stay, i spent 6 hours, tried flux, solder paste, and flux+solder paste, doesnt work, so i tried to put a LOT of lead, which seems to be sticking it on.

then i fliped it over, and astonishingly found my mini screw driver INSIDE my reader, between the glass and the "box" around it, i pulled it out with great care, and checked the wiring, which doesnt seem to be damaged.

tried to read disk, disk doesnt spin up, laser coiled to the center, generate a flash of laser, and stayed there.

i tried to desolder the power from laser fix and MI, and see if it reads music cds, and failed.

resoldered it, tried to enter the mi config screen, worked.
    saved settings, worked

i tried to set the mode to "dev1", which is "booting from mem1", and i saw it reading the mc(i have the led installed), but i dont have the boot.elf inside.
    can anyone help please?!?!?!?!?!?!

    my modding:
matrix infinity: on and off 6 times
external speakers /w leading wire: done
memory card LED (activity + connectivity): done
controller status LED change + vibration LED: done
    color-change lighting in v12: done
rgb to vga for monitors: FAILED due to not enough material
portable/internal LCD: sadly failed, as ps1 screen doesnt fit. planning same mod with intec screen
external harddisk for v12: CANCELED due to v12 breakdown
window for ps2 dvd-drive mod: in progress

i just opened it again, and found that fuse ps17 in green color (WHF?)
and i removed a part of lead which i left in there carelessly, which seems to be shorting something

then i tried it again, but amazingly it went to the legendary "first start scene", where it shows ps logo, followed by ps2 logo, followed by the language selection scene, then timezone, then daylight saving. normally this selection will only appear ONCE and ONCE ONLY, during the first start, and it means that the machine is new, and no matter how hard you try it wont come back to that scene again.

i was shocked when i saw that, and then i went into the browser menu, finding that my ps2 doesnt read ps2 memory card anymore...i tried to change port but it doesnt work, i tried ps1 memory card on both ports and it works just fine.

when i reset it, it just come back to the legendary screen again...

pls tell me whether i poped ps17, coz its green in color
and just what the hell is wrong with my pstwo, i mean, LEGENDARY SCREEN?

I think it's hard to tell if a fuse is really blown just by it's apprearance, as it can be blown and still look the same. Best way to test it is to use a multimeter. Don't need an expensive one. A cheap one is better than none.

so its just put the multimeter on both sides of the fuse and see if the electricity gose through rite?
maybe i can just use a battery and a LED, will that work?

If you spent so long as 6 hours trying to solder the laser fix, chances are you might have burned out the SMD resistors or some other component. Like I said earlier, you really need a multimeter to test them. They don't cost much, a digital one only costs around the same as a decent soldering iron.

actually i used the one in my science lab, and actually i DID tested the laser fix, and result is NON FUNCTIONAL.
    what should i do next?
its just way too hard to solder it on there, i used flux and solder paster, the lead just wont stick on there, and those black sticky things start coming out of the lead
