v12 killed by cd media
Got a v12 back.
Worked perfectly fine for 3 months but stopped reading dvd media after playing psx games
Laser was SPU type.
I 've used lenschanger and put a PVR laser.
Everything works fine until I use a cd game.
At first it boots ok but the console makes a swirling noise and the laser eventually blows.
Comsoft v3 fix is installed.
Any idea apart from sticking to dvd media?
I don't really want to sacrifice another laser :banghead:
-
You must make new "backup.nvm" file from other working pstwo console. Then remove slim fix v3 and bridge L1-L2 point, last use lens changer again and install PVR backup. After all this re-install v3 fix.
-
:wow: that's quite a lot of work.
Seems like you got this problem too.
So, it's a corrupted eprom that causes the laser to burn then?
-
For all qestion, yes. You must create new untouched pvr backup.
-
I will try this.
Thanks a lot for the help :)

I´ve changed 5 Ps2 v12 from SPU SHITTY WIDE to PVR 802 the first three with Lenschanger and Inlink and Computer (the hard way) the other 2 with Lenschanger CD.All of them had Slimfix V3 and one SumOne resistor at the board and all of them are still working. One of the guys have trouble with Divx movies and some games but he is using CDr/DVDr in "no name" brand. If you use crap for media you´ll get laserburnouts with every fix.

Maybe the resistor makes the difference.
It's not the quality of the media.

Well, one would assume that when it tries to read bad media it will try to use more power to read it better, so though the resistor may be the problem, the bad media will set it off.
