v12 crystal chip

I am about to try to install a crystal mod chip into my v12 (scph-70011) date 4c ps2, I have been reading around and understand that i should also install a lazer protect board for this model.( If this is in correct please help me )

the site i got my chip from i also ordered a mod that contained what looks like a surface mount transister and a couple of surface mount resisters
(what i thought was the lazer protect), can anyone give me any insight of what this mod does and where to get install docs for this.

the fix that the crystal gives out are the diode fix. U want to install the sumone's fix
