v10 Messiah, Crappy Mod Job, Slow loading times
Hey guys, I wrote before (http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24223) about having the bad issues with booting PS1 backups etc. anywas, I decided to ignore the problem seeing as it booted PS2 backups totally fine (plus I have another PS2 and have a few chips lying around, so I'm gonna do that one myself, the only way to get things done right ;/).
ANYWAHAYS, I paid $190 a while ago for someone to install the chip for me (what he said was a Messiah 2 Pro) and it booted PS2 games fine, had the screen compression issue for PS1 games. It didn't ALWAYS direct boot PS2 games flawlessly, often requiring a few tries. I'm thinking, "I can deal with that, it's okay". I could play backups of games perfectly fine.
Fast forward a few weeks. The PS2 has issues reading all Verbatim DVD+R's except for one (which rules out the DVD's being the problem). It'll load games extremely slowly, taking a few moments for each section to load (I can literally watch the polygons appear), often taking up to a minute for a game to even reach the "Playstation 2" logo. It rarely ever boots PS2 backups and occassionally when it does, it boots me back to the browser screen, then it goes to the Red screen of death.
I'm starting to think that he didn't even bother to do the Romeo mod and my laser has murdered itself, along with the LA chip. I can't open it up to verify (cus it'll break the modder's warranty seal) and I'm beginning to suspect it's not even a Messiah 2 Pro (shouldn't they boot PS2 backups flawlessly?).
Any ideas on what's going on? Should I contact the modder? I just wanna recoup the money I spent or salvage a working modified PS2.
Thanks well in advance.
