  1. #1 v10 with Duo2 SE w/ Romeo Mod now having boot issues
    cheloperins Guest
My V10 PS2 with a Duo2 SE w/ the romeo Mod was working fine until two days ago when it stopped reading DVD-R PS2 Backups. It will play DVD Original movies fine. I have tried using all the boot Methods for this chip and I get the RSOD. I works fine with originals. Anything specific I should check on the wiring when I open it up to take a look?

    Thanks

I've run into this problem lately with the Duo2SE chips. I don't know if I've just got a bum batch or what, but I spent three nights on a frikin' v10 that would give me RSOD about 50% of the time. I had tried three different chips and re-installed and quadruple-checked everything, but it was always the same thing.

I've tried these chips in another v10, and it's the same thing. Last night I tried two of them in a v7, and got the same thing. So I'm convinced that there's a problem with the chips. Supposedly these chips are supposed to be originals (at least that's what my supplier claims), so I wouldn't expect any problems with them. But I'm going to contact him and see what he has to say.

Anyway, I ended up getting the one v10 to boot about 80% of the time and the customer was happy with that. I told him to let me know how it works out for him (I hate to send a customer off with a machine that's not working 100%), but he hasn't contacted me and I had tried calling him a couple of times but can't get a hold of him.

With the second v10 I eventually got frustrated with the amount of time I was wasting and ripped the chip out and put a HDD into it. And the v7 that I ran into problems with last night... I got it working by swapping a THIRD chip into it.

Thanks for your reply... with the third chip what did you use? Another Duo2SE?

    Thanks again

Ditto,... that's where I got my last batch of Duo2SEs as well. I've never had a problem with any of the Duo2 chips that I've gotten from there before - just this last batch.

People it is more than likely not a bad batch!

The duo2se has had problems in the V10 since day 1.

It works flawlessly in every othere version but has always had trouble in the V10.

Dont throw them away thinking they are ****ed.
