modded my V10 ps2 last night with no luck :( just black screen, removed the chip to make sure everything was ok and first boot was fine, but then black screen etc.
reopened it this morning and checking for bridges etc, spotted this:
on the chip, one of the pads has gone and the wire connecting it to the chip has lifted and was wondering if theres any other point on the board that i could run a wire from the chip leg to the approriate point.
excuse my naff picture but ive also included 1 from the install pic too (its point T on the install diagram)
just praying ive not made a door wedge hehe... :-pray:
well tidied a few bits up and the ps2 is working again (minus mod chip) so reinstalled the mod chip, ps2 still working fine but mod chips not working (doh!) decided to take a break then re-attack it later to find where its not on properly etc!
If you oly lifted piont T it sould be a problem just retrace it and solder it onto the chip, like shown on hte picture.
I took it round to my mates house to let him double check everything etc and we did what you suggested with soldering direct to the pin.
ps2's working a treat, but still cant seem to get any life out of the mod chip though!
its a ripper 2 pro (according to 1 site but looks identical to the golds) in a V10 and tried a backup but just got the usual red screen etc,
tried holding down the triangle and pressing reset to get the dev mode up but still nothing, its as though the mod chips not in there!
normal ps2 games etc work fine, just dont seem to be able to tempt the ripper into coming to life!
does anyone know if you have to do something to kick start it into life at all? its doing my head in as my mates done mod chips before and said he cant understand why as there dosnt seem to be anything wrong with the soldering etc.
With the ripper chip, there is 5 points that need to be bridged with solder before the chip will work, not sure if you knew this. Can be found here.
Ripper Solder Points
yeah I had bridged those before i fitted the chip.
luckily, I phoned a mate whos a dab hand with a soldering iron and has a Ohm meter so i took it round to him and there were a couple of cold solder joints on various wires so he soon rectified them and for the B & I points on the underside relocated them so they wernt so close together and bingo! booted up with a backup first time! the relief on my face was imense! hehehe....
so now happy in the fact that the ps2 isnt dead and the modchip isnt dead either! (both thoughts crossed my mind when I first attempted the job in hand! )
