I am hoping this is the correct place for this. just one quick question. I have unassembled a v1 ps2 preparing to install a mod chip, but the motherboard is 2 pieces sandwiched together and I am unable to get them apart.

Looks (from what I can see) like there is a plastic clip connected to 4 pins that is holding it together, is there an easy way to disconnect this clip?

    Thanks!

    (edit)
The sticking point is under the 4 vertical solder points beneath the 5th fin from the left on the heatsink in the picture. It looks like there are 4 pins which connect the two pieces of the motherboard, There is a plastic something inbetween the 2. I can't tell if this is a connector, or just a shield for the metal pins. Do I have to desolder the pins on one side to remove it?

Well the few that i have done have only required 1 connection on the bottom side of that metal panel, i was able once i removed all the screws to just twist that plate(carfully!!!!) out of the way to get my connection... One console i was able to pull it apart, those four pins are power supply connections, but it does come apart but i can't remember the version? Sorry

    Good luck

I got it apart, 20 yards of solder braid almost took care of the 2 gallons of solder on the ps connection, now I look at my matrix infinity install sheet and the motherboard doesn't look the same as the picture

Serial number says it's a v1, so I am off to find a picture that looks more like mine, thanks for the help!
