I do that Magic 3.1 mod, with Network Adaptor "Stealth" mod. –
You need to put in a switch, on the Magic. You need a dual position, three pole switch, and I throw in an led, just cause it's cool. I mount the switch (standard size fits perfectly) by soldering it to the "basket" that lines the drivebay, all the way to one corner, then I can just cut out one tiny crosspeice from the plastic bottom cover, and it all fits really nice. I also drill a hole next to that to fi in the led, but that's an option. Look, the 2 pois, 3 pole switch connects either outside pole to the center one, and heres how to hook that up: The center pole to the 5v power input (top right corner) of the chip, then one pole goes (obviously) to the 5v point on the board. Now the other pole you need to ground, the chip won't be invisable unless it's discharged, you need to ground out the power input (not the source on the board!!!) just so that the 5v+ terminal on the modchip goes either to 5v+, or is grounded out to ground. If you want to run the led, it goes from the center terminal to the ground terminal, that way it goes on/off with the switch/chip. Use good gauge wire here, all the way, that's a good idea anyway, but especially since this will route the power around some length of it, you can't afford a lot of loss, here.
