I have a modded PS2 with a Duo modchip I believe. To tell the truth it has been so long since I had it I forgot what kind I had. Anyway, is it possible for me to take out that chip and put in a DMS chip without ruining my system? Thanks

Ya you can remove the modchip but you may need to add/remove some wires not 100% sure. Open up your ps2 and see what modchip you have installed.By the way I would not go for DMS brand chips they are junk !! Go for the original Matrix Infinity make sure you don't get a clone tho Modbo, Myth etc
if you want to play back up games only, the duo chip is just fine.
I wanted to use toxicbios that is why I wanted an upgrade. Plus I think my duo2 is starting to go.

Do the matrix chips support toxic bios?
as you wanted toxic os, the dms4pro is the only one to go.Originally Posted by Dragonlordfrodo
Chips dont normally "go" so to speak. If anything is "doing" it would be your laser. What makes you think that upgrading is going to make things better? What are the issues your having in the first place?Originally Posted by Dragonlordfrodo
PS2 mod chip bios's are not like Xbox bios's. They cant be used on any chip.
I would definitely go with an MI or CC

I doubt it is my laser. I hardly use it. Everything I play is off the hard drive. The only time I really use the drive is when using HDLoader, which is a CD, or copying games to the drive. As of late I am having problems booting from the HDLoader CD. I don't get disc read errors. I know that the disc is being read. Instead I get the "Please insert a Playstation 2 or Playstation format Disc" message. Any help will be appreciated...
If your confident its not the laser then I would check the CDVD points ... loose or incorrect CDVD points would cause a similar situation.
