Im having problems upgrading the Matrix Infinity firmware that i bought from Divineo.cn.

The reason for me wanting to update the firware is becouse I have one of the Infinity modchips that comes preflashed with the homebrew firmware as stated on the infinitymod.com with black screen on boot its also said it should be as easy as using the bootcd to update the firmware with.

Production Mistake in the last shipment.
One of the production responsible mixed up the HomeBrew code with the V1.4 Firmware of the Infinity.
As a result all the last shipments to our resellers are Homebrew Infinity and not V1.4 Firmware upgraded Infinity.

If you received a programmed Infinity and you are getting a black screen or you DO NOT see the Infinity V1.xx writing under the PS2 logo once the chip is installed, than you need to reflash the Infinity to the latest Firmware using these instructions:
    ------------------------
    To Upgrade the Homebrew Infinity:

Download the firmware from the Software Upgrade section.
Follow instructions written inside the .txt file to burn the upgrade CD.

Put Upgrade CD into PS2 and put PS2 into standby.
Press "reset button" and keep pressed until blue light turn ON (on V1-V11).
(For the V12 press reset button from standby for 2-3 seconds as there is no blue light).
Leave "reset button" and Upgrade CD will boot.
Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Upgrade procedures.
    -----------------------

Sorry for any trouble that this will create to everyone.
We will implement a new control system to be sure that this problem will not happen again in the future.
The problem I am having is when I have booted the bootcd i "press start to update to firmware....." and then i get a screen that says "Programming Please Wait" and thats all. Nothing more happens, I have tryed all kinds of things and waited 10, 15, 20 and even 30mins just to check if it realy is that slow but it still hangs.

I have tryed firmwares 1.36, 1.40, 1.50 all 3 are burned on 2 different media all CD-R and no difference.

If I press the "analog" button on the controller it lights up, if thats any sign i dont know.

The infinity modchip is installed in a SCPH-30004 (version 3), the wire installs are checked and rechecked, I even checked for solidersplashes (none). I have also added thicker wires to the 3.3v and GND.

If anyone have ANY suggestions at all please post, this thing is making me realy frustrated

Check the Y wire. Make sure you're burning your cd-r at 8x max.

Checked, and redid Y wire, no change. Tryed burning the last firmware 1.5 at 8x, no change.

    Thanks for the reply though

In my previous batch of infinity's (also from Divineo), I had 3 faulty chips out of 10, so I reckon you've got a faulty chip - nothing to do with which cd you're using.

I had the same problem with a Matrix MX4 I installed

Shorten the ground wire, this was the advice that luke from the matrix team gave me and that worked frirst time

If you are still having problems I would contact the Matrix Team they are really helpful

    regards,
    Danny
