Does anyone have a link or a guide on how to desolder the BA or LA chip on the PS2? I'm pretty good at soldering but haven't really desolder a chip from a motherboard before.

You'll need a high wattage soldering iron for legs 8 because they are thick ground wires. At least 45W.

There are soldering irons designed specifically for the removal of these types of chips.

www.techni-tool.com is where I am going to get mine from.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

So do I just use the 45W iron on each small leg and wick to get solder out. The legs will come loose then? I've desolder those little PS fuse on the PS2 motherboard and would think that it's the same concept.

Best/easy way to solder desolder this kind of chips is to use hot air gun. I did it many times and it's easy, fast, safe.

If you do not have a proper desoldering tool you can still solve by cutting the legs of the BA with a cutter, remove the BA chip and remove the legs one by one.
