Unmoddable v4?? –
12-29-2005,02:10 AM
I've been trying to mod a pal v4 without any success. So far I've tried a MI, Ripper and H20 (with and with out the H point)
All seem to give more or less the same problem - rsod or it tries to boot up but then it keeps spinning - no logo.
Also tried adjusting the laser wheel - no go. It boots originals everytime. Wires are very short, and I've used thicker wires on power points.
I think I'm starting to lose my mind - never had these kind of problems before.
From what I've read all the above chips should work
Is it possible to have a console that just doesn't want to be modded?
Update: After some more reading and a fresh cup of coffee it's seems to be pointing to the laser. From a few posts ive read even after adj. the laser it might still be too weak to read burnt dvds.

Try playing a ps2 game cd backup. I'm guessing it's the laser.

The best thing I do is test a burnt DVD movie in it before I start to mod it. I've been got by that before in my early days of modding so now I test everyone first before I even let the customer leave so I can tell if it's even worth modding or not.
