  1. #1 Umoded V12 Slimline PS2 and 2.5" USB HDD Possible?

I had a detailed message before, although I decided to cut it down to ask this one question and hopefully get the most direct answer. [please no search the forum replys hehehe]

What is the best way to get a 2.5" or even 3.5" drive to work on an unmodded v12 ps2? [even if it involves buying a mod chip or swap magic etc]

Thanks for your time and help.

You have to buy one of these kits: http://ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36386

Or solder all those wires to an ide cable yourself. Very painful, about 40 wires to solder...

nonono, he asked for a USB hard drive.

for that, you need the latest swap magic, which can boot elfs from a usb device. boot launch elf with it, and copy to the memmcard as per the instructions. then, with the card in, you can boot your exploits without a chip. you cna then use your usb drive with usbadvance (heh).

You can only use a modchip to have a USB hdd on the mem card. The v12 does not allow exploits. Sony has patched the exploit holes. So you might want to get a matrix infinity or crystal chip. You can boot hb using sm. I hope this helps.

Ahh I forgot that USB is 1.1 on V12, how painfull that would be. Thats off the list now.

The IDE hack looks like the ideal way to go. Although you still need the software to run it right. I read toxic OS can do this *dms4pro chip only*? , but can you use swap magic and another backed up disk to load the HDD as well?

Thanks for the posts guys. Im sure this will help others as well.

Uhm, use hdloader. You can buy the original disc or get a modchip and use a copied disc.
