Hi all, i have quite a technical question here...on the DMS 3 site on the version 7 soldering guide...theres a solder point marked X on the left side of a black surface-mount resistor.

To the left of this resistor is another brown resistor....does anyone know for a fact if these two resistors are "in-line"....i mean if the two resistors were joined here in theory it shouldnt matter if theyre in series anyway.

thank you very much for any help!

they arent resistors. and those two spots are the same point electronically. in fact, you can fill the whole little gap with solder and stick your wire in there and it wouldnt matter.

Yes, if you follow the trace, you will see that they are in line. So my guess is that the brown one is a resistor and the black one is a capacitor.
