trying to identify a mystery chip
trying to identify a mystery chip –

my friend gave me a dead ps2, which i promptly tore apart for parts. To my surprise, there was a modchip in it, but I can't identify it. It's red, in the top right corner it says 'ultra pro' and there is a chip on it 'ubicom SX488D/TQ
here's a crappy pic:
any ideas? I just want to install this into another ps2 and see if it works.

I want to say it's a cheap china chip from the looks. I haven't found anything on google yet, which is why I called it that.

I think it looks cool. But the features arn't very advanced i think judging from the size and the fact it is not a common chip.
it looks a little bit like a ps2 duo3 ultra chip :S

Well, thanks for trying guys. I just wanna know which versions the chip supports so I know whether I can install it into my slim or not. After some serious snooping, I've found it resembles an Apple-chip of some sort. But it doesn't quite match any particular one. I've got a v7 with a modbo 760 in it. I think i'm gonna pull it out and put this in and see if it works. Any more ideas would be appreciated

U made of a picture of the chip/mobo it was installed to previously ?
coz i reckon u can't find any diagrams 4 it since u dont know what chip it actually is.

no, that would have been logical...i was thinking of just transplanting a wire for a wire, b wire for b wire, etc. I had a feeling it likely wouldn't work, but unless I find a diagram, there is not much else I can do

lol.. why go through all the trouble?
Just by a Duo3 Ultra for 15$ and you know I will work perfect.
And make a keychain of your ultra pro chip

meh, posting a pic on a forum isn't too much trouble. If it's not identified, i can cope. I'd rather a bit of internet work for a free chip than pay 15$ for one.

wats the points on the chip? like pomn etc. if its all the standard that is used by most mods then just connect them using that logic and all should b good. my guess is that its a duo or apple clone which means ice based mod.
cheers
