Guys, can you help me take a look at my machine?

I have a V7 red(v2) Magic-II semi-successful installation. I have read the troubleshooting discussions here in the forum, and understand several of the potential issues as to what could be causing my problems.

I have used Modchip.ca's BIOS clip that they offer for simplifying a portion of your install. This clip is basically a prewired board with multi-wire attachments and a bios clip; you press the empty socket on top of the BIOS chip.

Has anyone had success with this? My installation takes several boot attempts before it will load a PS2 CDR backup. Often times, the unit needs to be "reset-held" into PS1 mode, then powered off, tray opened, then single reset, in order to get it to boot. (I have the best success with that - otherwise I could be sitting there for 10-20 boot attempts without success)

Also, my PS2 ruthlessley skips on all DVD playback. I have gone into my machine on a troubleshooting run and installed a 1.0uF 50v cap, and still have the same symptoms.

The wire-plugs that come with the chip clip are all the same size, so the 5v, 3.3v and GRD are all the same awg as the rest of the mix of wires on the plugs.. Do my symptoms somewhat identify with a power issue?

A thing to note is that when my unit is successfully booted, I can swap games and single reset without fail over and over again.

    Thanks for your input,

    Thanks for your input,
I haven't the slightest doubt in my mind that the clip introduces instability.

I am also certain that GND needs to be 22 awg insulated wire (stranded) and should be no more than 10 cms long. The power wires can be the same gauge but really not thinner that 27 awg (22 awg is still best).

So I suggest yoiu abort the clip and do it all 'naturally'.
