Trouble with Magic 3 –

i'm having installing magic in v4 & v5 .Ihave install several in v7 no trouble at all .After the v4 install I have a green and blue led on but black display and the cd will not eject still having the same problem after the chip is removed.With the v5 i get no video and a hmm noise when it is powered up I can remove the chip and the ps2 works fine .
Thanks for any tips, ideals or just pray for me

ok let me get this straight you removed the chip and everything went back to normal?? is this correct
have you tried another chip maybe the one you got might be faulty

on v5 two differant chips does the sameway.the v4 is still screwed with the chip removed

Are you 100% sure they are magic3 for all versions? It could be a clone chip for example that doesnt support anything but V7...Just a thought...Merry Xmas.

u can try unscrewing the screw at the direct bottom of the cd tray, its the front middle one.

yea, i had this same problem, when the tray wont come out, i either lessened the screw or removed it altogether. I'm thinking that maybe the screw is squeezing the drive to hard or sumthing....
also, another thing I found was if u read some of the magic3 posts on the 1st page, there's someone also who is having the same problem. People are telling him that there is a bridge(as in 1 part is touching another part) on the bios chip. The bios chip is those lil bronze-ish rectangular points that are the hardest to solder. Maybe u should check if they're bridged or not.
