Tray not Opening –
12-10-2003,10:33 PM
I just installed a Magic V in a V7. Was playing Prince of Persia and the game locked up. I reset...no video... and DVD tray will not eject.
Disassembled and was able to get Disc out of drive carefully by moving white arm under DVD drive and getting tray to extend.
I reassembled and as soon as power was applied and reset was hit the tray rammed back into the PS2 and will not eject again.
I could back out of my install...but it was working for several hours before this all happened.
Any ideas on what would cause this?

Check the bios points with a multimeter and/or magnifying glass, if you find anything try to remove it with copper braid. Hope this helps! Good Luck, keep us posted.

The blue light comes on for a bit on the eject button. Then it goes off right away. (after about a second).
The BIOS points being bridged will cause this problem? I will double check...but it was working for a while. Are there any other specific points that would make the DVD not eject?

OK.. I resolded all connections. Check to make sure that no pins on the BIOS were shorted together. Turned on and tray works. Got video. Went to browser and it would not read disc. Reset and now there is no sound or video....but the tray ejects just fine.
Could it be a bad magic V chip? I never had any problems when I had the Magic 3 installed.
Appreciate any help.

I got it to the point where it would boot original DVD and CD with the chip in..but no backups. I went thru all the trouble of backing out of the install and replaced with the original Magic 3.0 Now....still boots originals, but goes to browser with a disk read error on backups.

OK..update...still need help here.
I have a Magic 3.0 installed. I can play all originals and PS2 backups on CDR. No DVD-R boot. I am using media that booted fine with this unit before I started with it....
Any help would be appreciated. I tried alternate W and that didn't help. What other points are specific to DVD-R playing?
