Ive just modded my v5 ps2 and im far from beeing a professionnal installer.. you can see my install pic in the "modchip picture" thread and I think its still good... what I dont understand its why did you wrote all that ....its kinda normal that a "modded" "thing"... will die sooner then the original...we all know this... but hey... we also mod it and dont care about it because its only games... my oppinion is that if my Ps2 die then its a dead ps2 and ill never get another... I got one because it was like $25 CAD on ebay .. I did a small repair (all by searching the web) and wow.. a working ps2... if I did not find thie 25$ deal I wouldnt have a ps2.... I dont understand how people can pay $200 for a "fun machine"... anyway

I'm sorry but it's false, exepting bad coded / quality chip ( like Clones based on Scenix IC ) modchip DO NOT kill ps2 !

The ps2 is a cheap machine with misconceptions that let it burn by itself ( mechaconcrash ) or prevent it from reading ( large hole that enable dirty from comming to the lens ) DO NOT FORGET THIS FACT !!

right heres a quote from a company on the web called ***********-reseller and installer ........Sony has had some issues with machines even unmodifed , when you stick in burnt media and play it for longer then 2 hours it over heats the laser - better quality media at slow speed will save your machine from this issue. What date code is on the slim machine? look at the model number you should see 4d etc on the back sticker, as for proof of purchase not sure why you mentioned that if your looking for a new machine , keep looking : (

hmm they suggest on thier web site to use verbatum dvd-r , this is what everyone i know has been using and burnt at 4x ... so u see - like every other modder/installer they all have excuses for everything from dust to discs to botched installs to little elves that mysteriously sabotage your ps2 and this company says that even unmodded ps2's have this problem - bull - my unmodded one still works and having called 9 other retail stores - not 1 had any slim returns - thats odd . ...well not really because i have been using sony playstation since they first one came out and none of them ever broke in fact i still have them in my closet in working order ..

If you had been in the mod business for more than a week, you'd have had plenty of experience with people calling with UNMODDED consoles that need laser adjustments/cleaning/replacing. But, since you've had a couple consoles without problems, that just can't be the case, can it? I must have just made that up... damn you elves.

2 consoles(walmart)=340.00
labour to install 5 lasers at 45/hr. u.s. = 225.00
total = 910.00 plus tax and loss of your unit while being repaired
so how will the savings of burning 5 games (225.00) enable me to buy all those items you listed that cost 910.00 plus tax as priced on u.s. web sites .

And also if you want to get all techinical and shit, Swap magic 3 is NOT a modchip and has nothing to do with it. It is a software that allows the playing a back-ups. Modchips are made to AVOID this, swaping a discs. LOL honestly this is pissing me off........
