Switch Motherboards?

Hey,
Was wondering if it's possible to either switch the motherboard of a version 2 PS2 30001 with a version 1 motherboard, or whether it would just be easier to switch the entire DVD drive from one machine to the other.

if i'm not wrong, it should be, the two motherboards are similar, but it would be easier just to switch the entire dvd drive, because all you have to do is take the screws holding the dvd drive down off, then turn to the bottom side of the ps2, and take out the ribbon cable, then changing, rather than completely disassembling your ps2 and taking out everything.
