Hmm, tried to do this today, and the behaviour of the modchip has changed somewhat..
When the modchip is disabled, it does not work (duh), so it's working in this respect.
When the modchip is enabled, I cannot power the PS2 up from the Power/Reset button. I CAN however power the console up from the Eject switch, and the modchip DOES work...
The only functionality that seems to have gone amiss, is the powering up from the Power/Reset button.
I am pretty sure everything is wired correctly. Could this be a wire length issue?
Well. OK I pulled the console apart, double, tripple checked the wiring, and ensured the track was cut.
It's still behaving the same way.
Has ANYONE managed to put a switch on a Magic 2 console? Did you use the wiring diagram earlier in this thread?
Looking at the diagram, when switched in the ENABLED position, the 3k resistor on the reset line no longer does anything. Is this intentional?
Should the track be cut the other side of the resistor, and the common wire attached there? Anyone know. I really need to put this console together tonight (it been apart all day now).
Well, The drawing must be wrong, as I have now got it working as expected. It must have been the lack of thr 3k resistor on the Reset line preventing the Power switch working. Everthing is now working as expected, so I can now go online... :-)
I would attach the ammended schematic, but I cannot see how to attach it (is it because I am a junior member??)
if you want to post the pic dont reply in the box at the bottom click on 'reply'
it will take u 2 a different screen and it will have all the smilies and options on...underneath the option above where it says' submit reply' it has the attach file option
Here is where I located the switch on my V4 console. I choose this location, as there is a nice little cubby hole behind it for the switch wiring, and the modchip was quite close, so the wires can be nice and short...
