swapping motherboard –
04-23-2008,01:35 AM
hi,
I have a friend that brought me his ps2 slim, its broken according to a place he brought it to. needs a new motherboard apparently.
he's going to get another ps2 and has asked me to swap out his modchip.
I would like to know if there's anything I should be aware of so I do it right.
I'm mainly concerned about him getting another unit with a motherboard thats incompatible with his chip. I'm not sure what kind of chip he's got in it , but I can post some pics if needed.
so , how many different motherboard versions are there? or will any chip work with any motherboard?
thanks.
ok, I did a little bit more reading and I now know there's quite a few different versions. my next question is, how should I go about determining which version I have?

The motherboard has a GH......... number on the bottom of it.
Thats tells you wich version you have.

can anyone tell me how to find out which motherboard a v1.1 modbo chip will work with.
As I mentioned , I wanted to pull this chip from a ps2 that's not working but I need to find out if its going to work in another ps2 or if I need to get the exact same motherboard.
