Swap Magic/No-solder V4

A few weeks ago I posted my problem with my no-solder not booting my DVD-R's any longer using Gamesahrk and DMC. Everyone (including myself) seemed to think it was my laser. I just got the Swap Magic disc's and they work great. The only game (out of 10 different games) that didn't boot was GTA Vice City. That gave me a RED border. However, it did boot first time using Swap Magic on my friends V7.
My question is this. Is my laser OK since the Swap Magic's seem to be booting DVD-R fine? How can I be sure?
