Summ0ne + slim line = burnt laser
Summ0ne + slim line = burnt laser –
Quick question - just had a laser go up insmoke on boot.
Was a Silver Pal slimline mother board gh-032-22
Resistors were 303 and 01C - I applied a 560r resistor and got smoke instantly.
Was this the right fix - I though the 4.7k was for the 01D resistors.
You dont need anything on the o1D at all. Search the forums for the answers you seek lie within. Also make sure you didn't ground anything.
Hi - This is not an 01D
It's 303k and 01C behind it.
560 is what you need for the 303
The laser burnt because you maybe touched a nearby gnd/via when you applied the fix.
I've always made it a habit to stick some electricians tape on the motherboard under the fix resistor, then some more tape other the resistor afterwards. Minimizes the risk of it shorting on anything.
Tape was applied as suggested - I always take this measure and have never had this happen before.
Guess this must just be bad luck as I have had no bother with the 200 or so other slims I have done.
