    Hi, (this is embarassing)

I have disassembled/assembled my PS2 about 5 times now, and I got it down without no problem. I used Charlie's original Magic II V7 guide from Lik-Sang. However, everytime I have had a tiny tiny copper-colored problem. I end up with the same f^$$#ing screw left out. I just cant make out where the heck it goes.

    Anyway this is the screw:
    (taken from charlie's guide)

The power wire to the fan is connected by a minispox
plug to the PS2 motherboard. Gently remove this plug
by pulling on the wires until it is released. The fan and
power switch assembly is still secured by a single
    screw (not illustrated)
    which should be removed. The
metal cage over the disk drive should also be detached
    now.
I know I unscrewed it the first time I took it apart, but I just cant find the damn hole to screw! (no pun intended )

If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. (pics are welcome too

    I'll hazard a guess here:

I think it's the screw that holds to the "Metal Shield" covering the PS2 main board to the "chassis".

If you look at charlie_ps2 V5 install guide you'll see reference to this screw at the end of PAGE 6. The V7 guide mentions this screw, but doesn't show it. Both the V5 & V7 have it in the same position.

So basically what you'll have is the motherboard sandwiched between the metal chassis and the metal shield. You'll need to be looking at the heatsinks in order to turn the screw in.

    Hope this helps.

it's just a hole in the metal shield, there are loads of them all over it.

I know this screw is one of the three from the fan+switch assembly.. i don't think it has much to do with the motherboard..

I think I had this problem too. If you slide the power switch out of the fan unit you will see the hole the screw goes into. There are 3 screws for this part (2 are obvious, and 1 is under the power switch - this can be slid out). Maybe this helps, maybe not. Good luck.
