Strange phenomenon with Magic 50k

I installed a magic 50k on a v9 the other day, and it had these weird color bars show up and a tone would play, like when u change to a chanel that has no programs on it, when I booted. When I reset, the color bars went away, and i tried to load a backup. It kinda booted, but froze before the ps2 logo. So I did some reading and decided to clean up the Y and R wires since that seemed to be the problem. I used a 25g wire for the R point, and grounded the second programming pin thing on the mod chip, which some people had done. After that, I plugged it in and before I even pressed the power button, a giant spark came out from where the power cord connected to the back of the ps2! I quickly turned off the ps2 and a wierd smell came from the motherboard. Then there was this black spot on the metal shielding of the ps2. I tested the ps2 again, and it worked! However, my tv doesnt work anymore. It turns on and acts normal, but doesn't recieve any signals from the coaxial or the composite/svideo. Anyone have an idea what just happened? Is my tv dead?
