    I recently posted this:

    Hi,

I have already posted here about 2 days ago, askin about my V5 PS2 with DMS3 V2.0 in it. and u told me to check the CD/DVD controller points. so i did this, and resolder them they look fine.

    Rite here is my problem.

I have A V5 PS2 with DMS3V2.0 Installed, that i installed a few day ago now. Wat is happenin is CD games, backup and original boot no problem. DVD Games original and backup fail to boot at all, they just hang in the browser screenand the disc is still tryin to load. I have the same problem with DVD movies just hangs in the browser screen. so it seams that it is only DVD media that will not load up. also when i turn off the chip by holdin down the eject button for a few seconds the original DVD games still don't boot the same for DVD movies just won't boot. CD Originals boot no problem in this mode. the ps2 played originals and movies fine before i installed the chip. I have V1.6c software running on the DMS3.

any help PLEASE this problem is drivin me up the wall.

    thanks malcolm

    help please!!!! thanks malcolm

That sounds like a laser related problem. Maybe the lens needs cleaning with a cleaning disk (the one with brushes). Or the D or E wires are not ideally established (like they need a ground plane wrapped round them).
