if i had a short wouldnt my multimeter pick it up, cos i've mesured all the points on the mobo and none of them where in contact with each other. on the backside doh the 2 pads beneith G and H did make contact with G and H (G with the poad beneith and a too)
i figured the problem out btw. it was the short on the backside of the mobo, the wire was only stiped half(think i burned it)on the top side so it looked like it was not connecting with the pad underneith it.
Anyways, i soldered the chip in, booted the ps2 and it boots fine, i just hear the sound klikking skipping hanging, i'm almost sure the chip works(i'm burning a backup atm) since i'm having this CLK problem, can it be that the connection itself is just not GOOD enough? or is it because the wire runs over 2 or 3 other wires(1 time Reset gnd and SCEx) just before it bends to connect to the chip. I know this can be solved by adding a grounded wire to the clk wire.
I have my chip placed right next to the bios chip.(the same place SHADOWKNYGHT is using in his pictures he posts in that one thread.) And i'm using the alternate CLK point on the mobo cos i figured itll be allright since i'm using bigger wire and the distance between the to is minimal.
Or can i just measure the ground i know of and then go pointing the multimeter on other points, and the first closes point that says 00000 ohm is also a ground?(yeah i know it figures but i want to make sure)
Man they removed my tooth today so i'm gonna work on my ps2 again(yeah was out of the running).
one question for ya'll is Is it possible that my messiah2 is connected in such a way that only ps1 backups will work?
cos i'm not able to boot a cdr i burned with a dvdrip, it'll say red screen. But using the psx boot method i succesfully booted 3 psx copies(only tryed 3). anyone got any good guesses at wich connection may be bad/broke
Is it possible my ps2 will boot dvd-r or +r at the moment? or wont it boot dvd when it wont even boot cdr
Yup, you only need certain wires to run PS1 backups.
Not sure which ones they are, but I read something about it here just the other day.
SCEX is one of the points that you need for PSX backups to boot, so are the 3.5v, GND, RESET... There should be more but I'm not sure. If you look at charlie_ps2's Messiah 2 installation instructions, there should be a troubleshooting section on the end.
Anyways, that means you don't have to check those.
I think the problem most probably lies with the CD/DVD controller points--B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I.
yeah i know, i give up, i didnt do anything eith it cos i'm waiting for my flux. i think the little pads of the dvd controller are the problem, since the legs look nice, ah hell just gonna desolder the cd/dvd conrollerwhen i get the flux and start over, its good practice doug
