I finally decided to pry open my new (v9) ps2 cause I got my old one working. I have a Duo2 mini 50k modchip.
When I try to solder the 5v connection, it wont stay on. I am using a 20-gauge wire and .032 solder.
Thanks for any help.

use flux
)Flex?
FLUX. It is available at the same place you buy soldering supplies (Radio Shack). It is either a paste or I use a gel. You apply it with a toothpick to the point you want to solder. It is like a weak acid that cleans the points to be soldered.
Ok, thanks. Ill pick it up later.
Hmmm... I applied some flux and yet things still wont stick. I got the 5v connection on there but I cant get anything on the plates (or w/e they're called) on the modchip to stay on. And I cant get anything to stay on the motherboard either.![]()
I must really suck or something.
EDIT: Just read Tony's post in the link below and I am gonna try scraping the via for a few of the points.

Yes, it works. Thanks for the mini-guide. Do I do the same thing for the modchip connections too?
