Soldering help –
I was wondering what the best way to remove solder between the legs on the controller chip would be. I have tried using the desolder wick that came with the chip but it doesnt seem to be working.
I had more success with the desoldering braid. The pump I bought wouldn't remove any solder. Especially if your trying to get small trace amounts of solder.
Guichi, is a soldering pump expensive. Also isnt it a little large to suck up the solder. The solder is between the legs pretty good.
depressed, maybe i was using the braid incorrectly. can u briefly explain.
Basically just place the braid over the area that has the solder to be taken off. Place the iron on top of the braid that is over the solder to be removed. The idea is to heat the copper braid and the solder. The braid must be hot before it sucks the solder up. When desoldering with braid. You should be able to literally see the solder being pulled up through the braid. After that cut the piece off and start over. As far as small places you won't see it being sucked up so much. Give it a few seconds and then pull it off. You won't see a lot of solder especially if your trying to desolder the controller points or bios. But just cut off the small piece and do it over.
