I have a slim ps2. I want to play my backups, I'm wondering if the solder free options, like the v12 slide tool, or the flip case actually work? Does anybody use these if so let me know about it.

Yeah they work but sometimes they damage your pstwo. They are pretty inconvenient too. I recommend just getting the soldered chip.
