solder free options: do they actually work?

I have a slim ps2. I want to play my backups, I'm wondering if the solder free options, like the v12 slide tool, or the flip case actually work? Does anybody use these if so let me know about it.

Yeah they work but sometimes they damage your pstwo. They are pretty inconvenient too. I recommend just getting the soldered chip.

I am picking one up on Monday to do a repair on, DMS4 EZI was installed and worked for a week, then it shut down completely, shorted the ba chip and who knows what else...

I don't recommend them at all, at least until they are as stable as the xbox versions...

I didn't know the V12 EZIs came out yet and as far as issues with the XBIT, well there still is issues that need to be cleared.

I'm guessing your getting in a V5-V10 unit, most likely a V9 by my experience. Am I right?
