Hey, I just installed a duo3 gold on my v15 7700x, I got it as a replacement for my v7. I was using memorex dvd-rs and tdk CD-Rs for my backups and they worked fine on the v7 (I forgot what chip I had for that, neo4 maybe) and I noticed that a lot of cutscenes and streaming audio that worked fine on the v7 are slowing down and stuttering on the v15. Is this due to the slim ps2's different laser, or the modchip itself? Am I SOL? Any advice would be good, thanks.

I would say its the media. I have had really bad luck with memorex but TDk has been good.

I would try some new discs first, maybe Taiyo Yuden or verbatims and see what results you get. Also burn them at a low speed, I get great results from x4 with Nero, Imgburn, or dvd decrypter.

If the problem persist then its the laser. But I highly doubt the laser or the chip is the problem. My bet is on bad media.

Hmm...I'm getting a 100 pack of TY's tomorrow, can I just do a direct DVD to DVD copy? Or, what I'm wondering is, would copying the DVD replicate any inherent flaws in the backup, or would it be fixed because the DVD-R/W drive can read DVD-Rs better than the ps2?

    Thanks.

You should be okay copying the disc in the PC if it isn't too bad. If not, back up an original.

Hmm, I've been reading that the cyclowiz doesn't spin up to the required 6x for the wii, so there is slowdown...could it be that the duo3 gold doesn't spin the ps2 disc properly? Just curious...
